The best movies I saw released this year (in order of when I saw them):

If you squint hard enough, this basically plays like a Good Will Hunting spin-off, where we find out what happened to Chuckie after Will drove off. He even has a new group of friends he picks up every morning and rides around town with (one of which I was absolutely sure was going to be played by Casey).

I saw this the other day. It was ok. It felt like Ex Machina meets Multiplicity.

Ringo made it but not Paul, and Jeff Lynne appeared but not Bob Dylan. So I have to assume they were both asked and declined.

I saw the trailer for this and I wasn’t sure if the singing was supposed to be bad on purpose or if they didn’t realize it. But it was tough to listen to.

I didn’t miss Kate. She tends to suck up all the oxygen in her sketches, much like Wiig did toward the end of her run. Not having her around gave some of the new people a chance to show off their talents, and now I fear they’ll be relegated to standing in the background while Kate mugs for 5 minutes. 

For a movie this big and weird, it is oddly forgettable. Ask me to describe the plot and I literally couldn’t do it. 

The best thing about both cuts of Justice League, and perhaps the only thing I truly enjoyed about either of them, was laughing like a little kid anytime someone said, “scent of the Motherbox.”
