When the discussion of AWD systems comes up, most default to Quattro from Audi but in my experience for front wheel drive based systems, SH-AWD from Acura is the best AWD system out there.

This Corolla hatch is begging for the engine from the new Yaris GRMN. It would be an excellent Civic Si and Elantra Sport competitor with it. Add in a few TRD bits and you have a hot hatch for a relatively small investment.
