I see Allium’s reference to The Yellow Wallpaper above, an appropriately ghostly and horrific tale for this thread. I wonder, Lauren, if you’ve read MR James’ short story The Diary of Mr Poynter? It’s another tale of weird and ghostly wallpaper.
