Don't we live in this world already? 3D films are increasingly being reviewed separately from the 2d versions. Not to mention all the hoopla surrounding The Hobbit releasing theatrically in something like 5 different flavors. You can practically read the article with a straight face.

It could go either way. More than likely the plot will follow some kind of supreme evil that neither the horde or alliance can handle on their own, requiring them to team up so they can beat the bad guys.

Just going to chime in and say that this is an adaptation of the book, not the animated film. Ghibli clearly doesn't have the exclusive rights to make a film from the material, so that the film is being made actually isn't much of a shocker.
