You’re probably right. I’m off to Salon.com for sanctuary.

This is embarrassing. You don’t want to see her speak? Ignore her like the attention whore she is. But you don’t get to preach open-mindedness and tolerance if you can’t guarantee a speaker physical safety.
This post doesn’t explain how this was really the fault of straight white men, and is therefore a bad post.
Sure. But there’s a whole other level of outrage, fairly or not, that comes with the perception that black people re being underrepresented. The two years of #OscarsSoWhite, a Mexican guy won Best Picture, by the way
i love this idea people here have that SNL cast members just stand around waiting for the writers to hand good material to whoever they feel like.
She’s not Jackie Robinson. They’ve featured black men and women for decades. And when the times when someone is in the foreground proves they aren’t good enough, they’re in the background because they aren’t good enough.
I don’t know if this is what you meant by it, but this thing I keep hearing about “not giving her much” makes it sound like SNL is just handing out good material at random, or to whoever it feels like. Cast either have to develop their own stuff with other writers, or show the staff what they’re capable of. They’re…
Fine, but this article (and many others) is criticizing the current state, not what it was in 1975.
When over 60% of the country, by the least generous estimation, is white? Half seems high, but I believe you that complaints would still happen unless it was half and half (and probably even then).
People looking to get angry interpret that question as “there should NEVER be more minorities in the cast than are in the census.”
The supposed rationale for the outrage about no black women in the cast was that there was no one who could play Michelle Obama (as if she did a bunch of attention-grabbing things ripe for SNL parody). She’s done her a few times; completely bland.
“The cast remains almost entirely white but for Zamata, Thompson, Jones, and Michael Che; Melissa Villaseñor, the Mexican-American comedian they hired”
They have. And she hasn’t shined.
I didn’t like this as much as Jezebel’s older article “Yas Kweens: Chinese President Allowed To Watch Obama Daughters Slay And It Is Everything”
Wow. 9/11 affected us all in so many different ways.
Everyone knows you never go full hobbit
Unless the name on your driver’s license is “xgf” you haven’t “gone on record,” I’m sorry to say.
She lost me by the time she brought Zimmerman into this. Anyway, I can’t address these 2000-word missives point by point in a comments section. I can’t bring myself to be that guy.
The wrong spelling of “too” was, of course, ironic. Right?
Can someone send me a link to the Jezebel article taking Harry Reid and the Democrats to task for voting in the nuclear option in 2013? I mean, it has to exist, right?
