Actually as a long time Star Wars fan, surrounded by friends who are Star Wars fans and having three generations of Star Wars fans active in my house (my dad who is 72, myself at 52 and my son at 23) I think I can say with certainty that just the opposite is true.

I thought Episode III was decent, at least the final act...I think that’s the payoff that everybody wanted from prequels and they did it well (how they got there, we’ll...that’s a different story).

And the EU was all over the map...some good, lots of terrible...

Fictional universe aside, the prequels were exceedingly atrocious. We had Yoda fighting Dooku similar to how Mickey Mouse fights with a keyblade, we had Lucas try to explain away the Force as a genetic birth defect because Science, extremely poor casting choices, and the worst of it all, Jar Jar Binks. A character

It was an insult. We may not own it, but we are the consumers of it and George Lucas is very rich because of it. Which is fine, he put out a product we bought it many times over. But, the first three movies were awful and border line racist. So, yeah, I have a right to be insulted because he insulted our intelligence.

You put too much stock in flash, and are not looking for substance. This is one main criticism about the prequels you are arguing in favor of. This is why the effects are criticised, and why the fight choreography is criticised. People swinging glow sticks in near proximity to each other doesn’t make a compelling

if you refuse to accept the role a patron has to an artist, you’re a fucking idiot.

Really the old EU was a vast corpus of meh with a couple of really cool high points and some long wanderings in the wastes. Then you have the added problem of trying to fit all of it together into a coherent whole, which some jobbing author really doesn’t care that much about since they’ve got deadlines and didn’t

Wait, you’re insulted that people would say the prequels were an insult? I take it as an insult that you be insulted by that purported insult, ya prick.

Exactly. I can’t fathom those people singing the praises of the old EU like it was some untouchable bastion of perfection. It was, BOTTOM LINE, 10% worthwhile, and 90% pretty standrard dreck piggybacking on the aspects of known SW universe: Need a smuggler? Call Lando or Han. Need a Jedi? Call Luke and maybe his

No you grow up. People have opinions. Deal with it.

1 was a decent movie. Not up to Star Wars level, but a decent movie. 2 was a crappy attempt at combining an action film and a chick flick, and was terrible. 3 was a good movie with terrible acting turning a potential great movie into only good.

YEA!!! TO HELL WITH THE FANS GUYS!!! i mean... without the fans they never would have gotten famous, so what they think matters, but still.. TO HELL WITH THE FANS BECAUSE OF MY MORAL OUTRAGE OVER MY LACK OF UNDERSTANDING!!!

I will totally agree with you on your opinon about the EU. I will however disagree and say all of the prequels were objectively bad. Insultingly so. Not for continuity issues, but because they’re just terrible movies by a writer/producer/director who hasn’t had a good idea since Last Crusade
