Germans don't really understand the concept of personal space. Many a time I step forward to create some for me and then - the person behind me steps forward to in order to keep as close as possible. I'm also very short so I feel constantly tackled and inhibited by tall people.

Yeah, I also got replies saying pretty much "You can speak! Ask them for more space" because obviously it is on me to educate them and make that a common part of my day.

My favorite is when you look at them angrily and they are SO confused as why someone obviously has a problem and think YOU are a crazy person. They are completely unable to figure out what the reason for the angry stare could be. Oh to be one of the privileged!
