As a denizen of the infamous “snake on the lake” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve daydreamed of breaking off of Ohiotucky and floating away to Canada.

They really say, yes women should be forced to carry dead babies or die due to a eptopic pregnancy and then vote for them.  They’ve got women vomiting on the stand and they’re laughing about it.

In your list of the state-by-state fallout of Dobbs, I didn’t see mention of the 10 year old Ohio girl who had to go across state lines to obtain abortion services. In post-vote interviews I heard, her case was cited as a reason to ensure the Measure 1 failed.

That and the other contigent who’d believe he faked it and will come storming back the day after the election to ascend to the throne.

A whole contingent of the population would write him in because his death would be a conspiracy instituted by the Biden Crime Family or something.

I would just like to know how one picks up a child from school “with humility.” Also, at least Pratt’s comment was presented in the spirit of ironic self-awareness, like, I don’t think he was actually expecting a pat on the back for opening pickle jars.

From having read the wording of the initiative, I’m guessing that a small percentage didn’t understand the question... Not a defense, but statistically there are those who just don’t have critical thinking skills.

Yeah I saw part of that interview last night. Was he basically blaming it on poor marketing?

People vote based on their best self-interests.

This is why I say that liberals and queer people and minorities are hostages in red states. The state government doesn’t bother listening because they know they have no policies whatsoever. So they gerrymander and suppress votes so they can hate on people and keep their rabid shrinking base happy.

Yup ... Putnam. It’s far from us and I doubt we’ll ever have to drive through there but I told Mrs. F. if we ever have to we’re not spending a dime while passing through. Wyandotte was up there for a while early but it softened down from its 80% perch.

I read your comment and then I made a little bet with myself over whether I could guess which county was that red. I thought Putnam or Paulding. Then I checked with the NY Times and sure enough, those fuckers in Putnam were once again willing to cut of their nose to spite their face.

Within minutes of the vote being called last night, the Republican head of the Ohio State Senate basically said, “Don’t worry, this issue will be back on the ballot again some time soon.” Because these fuckers won’t stop until they’ve rigged for themselves an ironclad grip on the levers of power in the state in

I’m glad to hear this.

I proudly voted NO on this piece of crap. BUT ... it’s not as overwhelming as the article states. As of now, about 11:00 PM, it’s going to pass, but it’s 56% - 43% and could narrow a bit more.

I’m generally to the right of the Jez (and general Gizmodo sites) zeitgeist but I can’t help but chuckle when red states keep voting against abortion bans after Dobbs.  The rabid pro-life wing of the GOP is like the dog that caught the car and found that bumpers don’t taste good.

it was OK for them to break the law because they think fetuses are people”
