More Torin Kerr! Shiny!

I think you’ve hit a nail on the head when you say that the garb leads people into thinking they are mostly ceremonial. Even knowing that the Swiss guard can be deadly, the uniforms are have a disarming (heh...) effect on the onlooker.

Most wings stall around 14-16 degree angle of attack.

Planes are complicated now, but it is all relative. The B-29 and P-51 were pretty complex given the technology of the time.

Hasn’t caught on? I use Skype more than actual phone calls. Granted I may be an exception...

The tip is the docking probe. If I recall correctly, once the CM was hard-docked to the LM, it was removed and set aside from the inside.

Even airliners with glass cockpits have backup analogue instruments.

Indeed. Same with flying a modern airliner. Software will be involved in a big way and no one flying operationally worries about that.

Software driven aircraft with “glass” cockpits have been mainstream for thirty years now. They’re pretty bulletproof at this point. No fly by wire airliner has ever crashed due to software problems.

If you lose all electrical power in an airliner (and presumably in a spacecraft) you’re dead anyway so it is a moot point.

More than three decades of experience in aviation has shown that screens are more reliable than traditional gauges and buttons, even in mission critical applications. Even the standby instruments in airliners have been screens for decades.

I politely informed him that this is impossible because the Hummer’s body is made of aluminum, which cannot rust

Ding ding! We have a winner!

John Cleese’s expression as the cow flies over the parapet shows what a genius of body comedy he is. The head barely moves. The brows move up showing surprise. The eyes follow the cow. I laughed just watching him. And he seems to do it all subconsciously.

Most of the heating is due to the atmosphere creating a massive greenhouse effect. If you assume the atmosphere is “fixed” a lot of the heating goes away.

The temperature is mostly due to runaway greenhouse effect. If you assume terraforming to adapt the atmosphere, much of the heating would stop.

More struts will solve most things. :)

Doctors Abby Normal and Brain (Brain and Carol McDaniel) prepare to do science all over the place.

It is a thing. And even before this logo optimization, Google has had a long-standing rule that the Google homepage have a maximum number of letters and words. All to conserve bandwidth and thus ensure the least amount of overhead.

Fair point. I have actually enjoyed Killjoys. Hardly Firefly though. ;)
