Not sure if TT3D - Closer to the Edge came out in IMAX. Definitely worth a watch in any case.

As ever with these articles, I'll point people to John Ringo's Black Tide Rising series, where the protagonists actually use tactics that are both realistic and effective to counter the zombie threat. Not Ringo's best but still fun, even if it falters quite a bit by the end.

You summed up the problems I had with the second book exactly.

No love for Larry Niven? He has written many stupendous short stories, my very favourite being Rammer from "A Hole in Space".

The fallacy of that argument is that it isn't all or nothing. You can give up many things, while retaining some things that are bad for you but you enjoy. My take was that a) he's an astronaut so he's selected and trained to be resilient and b) he does go a bit nuts if you read between the lines but he uses his work to stay sane, which if you think about it is a both a rather desirable and a rather believable attitude for an astronaut.
