I get that. However he doesn't need the MCU to make money while still doing projects that he wants to do. He might not get the same amounts but he'll still get paid, and well.

Whedon can make plenty doing other things. He already has the financial means, the connections and the cachet to do pretty much anything he wants within his field. So if he wants to do something which is not the MCU, more money from Marvel probably won't change his mind.

Twenty extra points if the control room at any point errupts into rapturous applause.

Because those are all ideas that in no way can come back and bite us... ;)
