I definitely understand what you mean about seeing the end result from a parts list. There also a lot to be said for the beauty of a machine where all the cables are neatly organized and where colors and styles are coordinated even inside a closed case.

Mmmm. RAMdisk...

This!

Gorgeous case. However I'm more into minimalism. My current Lian-Li is both understated and elegant. Lovely solid construction as well. Under my desk and I can't hear the thing even at very high loads.

(No, it's not resting on the carpet, in case you're wondering.)

I agree. Every small build I've done has been "needlessly noisy". Big, slow fans and lots of space mean a quiet, cool PC even when gaming.

Not quite apps, but I'd mention Start8 and ModernMix for Windows 8. For less than US$8, they tweak 8 into a really quite lovely desktop OS instead of the unholy schizophrenic mess of Modern + Legacy Desktop that now lives on Windows 8 PCs.

4k indeed. Kinda makes the 16 gigs I just installed in my new desktop seem like, well, a lot... I wonder if this new machine will let me do more stu-... Ooooh shiny!

My mistake sorry.

Same in HK. No donations if you've lived in Europe for more than six months during 1985-2005 or something like that.

  • Science fiction is many many things. This is one of them. As are "out there" shows like Farscape. Unfortunately if you haven't been exposed to much science fiction it is easy to think that it science fiction is Star Trek, Star Wars, and Aliens.

I've found they last about as long, but even so totally worth it.

If you want to go with the original Italian, it would be vee-bram. However all English speakers I have heard say vie-bram.

Interval training and resistance training are indeed much better for you, and more efficient. On the plus side, once you've done those for a while, running long distances is way easier. The issue is that most people who want to run reasonably far (say, a half marathon) go at it backwards. They run longer and longer

The trick is to have several pairs and wash each after a few uses.
