Simulators can be surprisingly real, and the human mind is good at filling in the rest. I've been in a couple of full motion flight simulators. If I hadn't known it was a sim, I doubt I could have distinguished it from the real thing.

After a few years in HK I've come to think UK-style outlets are the best. They're large but they never fall out accidentally, they have a built-in fuse in the plug, and they're childproof even without a socket cover.
The system was rather complex and required extraordinary engineering prowess.
