If you are going to go with the 2008 version I would heavily suggest you at least download the mod that fixes the control issues, if you don’t its dam near unplayable in its default state.

And every article about this game you publish, positive or negative, helps remind people know the game exists. Obviously, these articles aren’t hurting the game, so at this point, you’re just writing these articles for the clicks and not because you actually care about the game or its harm.

I think the problem seems to be that companies stepped away from dedicated servers. I’m not sure what it takes for companies to allow them in their games, but I imagine not much?

At that price, you bought the classic version and not the remake. The remake is on sale, but significantly more expensive. 

FYI weapon perks are completely random, so everyone’s Strelak’s perk will differ run to run and potentially not be that slowing one. Mine had a perk that incentivized transforming it back and forth by increasing its damage by damaging enemies then switching its form. 

The best weapon is anything you can get that is silenced, I’ve found both the pistol and the SMG so far (not counting nail guns). It’s a random perk but if you can manage to find one it makes stalking through the levels super easy.

Adam Sessler said it and you alluded to it as well, Ethan - PEOPLE, if you are bored initially, just get to the point where you can start using Residuum, and the game completely opens up to be at your disposal.
