thank god he doesn't have a "boat boner" like that soccer dude.

The thing is, it costs a shitload of money to test blood (100 euros where I'm from, no idea about the US), so let's say someone donates blood, that blood is tested and they find out it's infected. Well, it's 100 euros out of the window. Since gay male sex is the biggest vector in HIV transmission, it's about not

I don't think you know what a troll is.

Do you not think that the one-year ban would still exclude the vast majority of gay men?

Reading the links, it looks like the Red Cross is arguing for a one-year deferral for MSM donors instead of a lifetime ban. So, if someone had MSM sex within the last year, they still would not be able to donate. AMA's recommended policy is less clear because the link to it appears to be temporarily broken.

HIV can take up to 6 months to show up at detectable levels in the blood. I still don't agree with the ban. The questionnaire should ask about risky sexual behaviors, not who the donor rubs genitals with.

How is what OP even close to be a troll related comment?

They recommend against the lifetime part, not the idea of banning MSM. You probably should have actually read your links.

I said this to the other guy, but he dismissed it. Blood is SCREENED for HIV. No diagnostic tests are used. If you don't understand I suggest you look it up.

Careful, you're being reasonable and providing evidence. People don't like that around here.

Especially considering that HIV can sit dominant undetected for a LONG TIME.

On issues like this, facts are scary to many Gawkerites so be prepared to be called a homophobe

Is it ridiculous?

According to the CDC, Males who have sex with males (MSM) make up only 4% of the male population, but make up 78% of new HIV cases among males, and 63% of all new HIV cases.

Funny, my first thought when they revealed the kid was an android was "Holy %*#$ her kid's a robot!" Different strokes and all that :p

Elsewhere than the comment section to the article?

Actually, no.

She was raped whether she verbally said yes or not. Legally she can't consent to having sex with an adult. You can still do your job as a defense attorney without saying malicious things about a 12 year old rape victim.

Trying to prove yourself as an attorney is no excuse for her treatment of a 12 year old rape victim.
