@shroin: Yea, but if you stole someone's identity opened an account in their name, than deposited a empty envelope and said you deposited $700, you could probably draw on it right away. What would stop someone from (fraudulently of course), picture depositing into one account and than physically depositing into another account? I know they could be "caught" per se, but so could identity thieves and that doesn't stop them.

My best advice for buying any big ticket negotiable item is to waste the sales person's time. I'm talking hours here (if possible). They get to a point where they will gladly give up 50-75% of their commission just to make a sale. $100 is better than $0 and if they have spent hours with you they are losing money on…
