Food for thought: The House Freedom Caucus are a group of insane right-wing crankjobs who make the average Tea Partier look reasonable and open to discussion. Trump has openly talked about going to war with them for tanking the AHCA.

Are those lanes manned by people in the background? If so, that’s 6 potential and possible jobs that would maybe be manned by one or two employees (no store ever has every lane manned, even at their busiest). If you want to count that as 5 human jobs lost, go for it, but I disagree.

I haven’t seen many if any in NJ do that. Make room for them in new construction, sure, but no retrofitting existing stores to employ them. Those that do usually end up getting rid of them within a year.

So long as people keep shopping there, yes. Many people don’t, which is why the lanes never seem to last.

Maybe it’s different in different areas, but any store I’ve ever seen with self-checkout has 2-4 self-checkout lanes next to the usual 12-16 regular lanes.
