"Anytime I did poorly in School my Uncle would remind me that with great power comes great responsibility, then he would beat me with a belt."
I think playing it straight is just a better way to go. Sure its old fashioned, but coming out of a giant rock monster its also charming. The great idea at the core of the Thing is that his self hatred is manifested is humor and bravado, its what makes him endearing.
Impulse holds up pretty well.
Helps that he spent a large portion of his tenure written by Mark Waid.
Yessss. Seeing as I was 10-12 when the Justice League cartoon was coming out, Wally West will always be my Flash. He's definitely my favorite DC character
And he should rub the scar on his forhead and say his own name a lot.
He's too likable for Jonah, more of a Perry White
I think the problem there is that Thor is just more powerful than the rest of the Avengers by an order of magnitude, so they seem to rather rely on him to be very charming and very pretty to distract from the fact that he should really be getting more done.
Not to mention her role in Cap 2, which involves routinely saving Cap's well shapen ass (hey, the men are great eye candy too) on a regular basis as well as revealing the HYDRA/SHEILD scandal to the public. How useless of her.
Oh man. I'm working through it now for the first time and just got to WW3…damn this is a good run.
"Darkseid is."
Alternatively, there are people who have read far too many batman comics who genuinely really like Snyder's run and really don't understand how it can be seen as a mediocre recap of Morrison.
FF got canceled by marvel anyways. Sue's with SHEILD, Ben is on the Guardians of the Galaxy, Johnny is dating Medusa and chilling with the inhumans, and Reed is…being a stay at home dad and doing lots of sciencr?
Come on, we all know the Forever Yesterday future (where bishop is from) is totally different than the DoFP time line. I mean one is an apocalyptic future where mutants are rounded up in concentration camps hy giant robots and the other one is……oh, right
Well the FF are the one's who discovered that Jean Grey was only mostly dead at the bottom of the lake. They also had a fun but brief team up in Whedon's run, but yeah they rarely cross paths.
Your points about Thor are valid but also….Skurge stood alone at Gjallerbru…and that answer is a
Enough.
I give Runaways vol. 1 to anyone who tells me they want to get into comics, it's such a great gateway.
"Pointless violence and death is realistic. Comics are realistic now"
That run is one of my bigger blind spots, I plan on getting the collections on comixology once I finish up the series I'm currently working through. I really wish DC had a service like Marvel Unlimited, reading marvel back issues is so much easier and cheaper.
