Really dug this first issue. Cyborg was always a character I liked but he hadn't clicked for me yet in the New52/DCYOU (mainly due to my intende dislike for Geoff Johns' writing). This really got me on borard with the character again. It helps that Reis draws the hell out of it as well.
The Mark Waid Leia series was also great (its kind of redundant to say a Mark Waid comic is great, but still)
Scrooge McDuck is basically a perfect comic
Its a must read if you want to be sad and begin the process of slowly falling out of love with the DC universe.
Haven't you wondered if Zatanna and Green Arrow have ever teamed up to magically lobotomize supervillians without any semblance of due process?! No? Well they did! They also did it to Batman! Isn't this so complex and deep?!?!
Its definitely one of the first examples of DC's "Watchmen-ification" of the Justice League (see also the hilariously title Justice League: Cry for Justice). Why can't they just let Watchmen be Watchmen and let the Justice League be the Justice League
Definitely an odd choice for new readers, if I gave that comic to someone who had never read a comic I doubt they would be interested in reading any more.
It's the fucking worst. Someone recommending that is usually my cue to stop discussing comics with them.
Stopped when someone suggested Identity Crisis to add my requisite statement that that comic is garbage and led me to stop reading DC for many years. It ruins supervillains, fridges one of my favorite female characters in DC and writes characters such as Green Arrow and Zattanna so far out of character so as to make…
I wouldn't call it unbearable. I mean, it's an awful movie but it's fascinating to me for some reason.
K.
Dude also saved Earthbound. He was a legend.
Back when Nintendo was struggling Iwata took a massive pay cut to ensure no one would be layed off. What a class act. RIP Iwata-san, the gaming community will be a much less joyful place without you.
Yes! I love that podcast. The two of them got me back into reading comics weekly and really rekindled my love for the xmen
I'm interested to see what the Xmen will be up to (it helps that Lemire is writing the flagship title) but I fail to see how the inhumans fill th roll better. The new versions of the inhumans are just a variation on the classic Marvel "accidental superhero" the plot macguffin gas activated superpowers. The only reason…
Kitty Pryde was right, Professor Xavier is a jerk.
….we do not discuss the Chuck Austen run. It never happened
Hush is probably the only time I liked Jim Lee. Superman Unchained was decent, and I have nostalgia for his X-men stuff but he's far from my favorite.
Don't you dare, the ever changing number of guthries are all the best kids. Leave them alone.
