We’ll, I guess that rules out Danica.

Based on you posting to every reply in this thread and open admission that no sporting automotive achievement in history is more significant to you, I don’t know why I am even bothering...but engine shops in SoCal can do (and DO do) more than pushrod V8s. They certainly can develop and perfect engine

My biggest beef against this is going to Williams for the engine work. Singer’s in SoCal... you don’t need to go to Yur-Rope to find good engine shops. I like the American take on a custom Porsche...keep it in ‘Murica.

Oh, I agree on all points...just hilarious to see a train only slightly bigger than a U.S. Bro-truck.

That’s a reallllly small train!

If a private effort in an ACR ran 7:01 (and the Viper team admits the ACR has too much aero for the Ring), then a factory ZR1 effort should definitely challenge the GT2RS. Thing’s gonna be a beast.

Like the Prius, the Gen 1 Volt runs indefinitely. Eric Belmer has 400k on his and it hasn’t even lost range yet. Those cars are so overbuilt...

Yeah, it didn’t trip my sensibilities. Now new Camaro? Yeah, that car is exhausting to drive (but the chassis is Oh so good).

And I can understand/appreciate that line of thought. I would contend the Gen 1 Volt was one of the best built cars you’re likely to find. GM was terrified of failure, so it’s pretty overbuilt. The 2016 ELR has bigger motors and drivetrain components to handle the 373 foot pounds of torque, magnaride shocks, HiPer

I vote 2016 Caddy ELR. The last model, in the best spirit of GM, was made quite good right before they cancelled it. Quite quick in it’s own right, loaded with good technology, a great interior, and that electric vibe. 0-60 is 6.4 or so seconds, but the around-town performance is much closer to a low 5 second car

Hopefully it’s a bit underrated and can keep the McLaren 720 in its sights down the straightaways. That car really raised the bar for straight-line speed from non 7-figure rides.

I’ll also add incredibly neutral handling (Randy Pobst even attests to the 240 having “perfect” handling) and insane power potential. At one point, redblocks had 3 of the top 5 fastest times for 4 cylinders. So the sleeper factor is high.

I moved from Pittsburgh to Maine and both places have pretty inexpensive electricity. As such, electric is a pretty significant cost saver. With that said, the benefit isn’t so great in states like yours and California.

Mike Skinner as Mike Skinner would have been totally fine. He’s a helluva driver and has a good personality. No need to make him a character. To Americans, the idea of a Californian exhibiting the characteristics stereotyping the deep south was particularly silly.

Hot car!

NVM

Pretty sure that Tony “I drive anything with a motor” Stewart won’t jump in 410s because they scare him.

So today we went and registered my Volt (now over 1 year old). Despite it’s actual age, it was treated as a first year vehicle. Total came to an even $1000. Yep...totally makes buying a new, eco-friendly, American-made vehicle worth it.

So assuming

I am kicking around the idea of a 2016 ELR to complement my Volt. Beautiful car and quite quick with the upgrades they did. Unfortunately, Maine excise tax is painful and wipes out a lot of the savings of buying a newer, more-efficient car vs. a fun, older beater.
