Thanks for figuring out the actual velocity/relative time for such a trip, coming from a more knowledgeable source! 0.5C would have a pretty high time dilation effect, I would guess (armchair astrophysics)… in which case, yes, the allegedly 'best and brightest minds' should be aware of this being all wrong for 1g's

Heh-heh. Perhaps this Pig Prank was staged in their version of sorority/fraternity hazing—"next time there's a shipwide alarm, chase some pigs up to the promenade… and then you're in with accolades!"
But, being a clandestine operation, maybe they didn't follow fire codes—no stairs interfering with their lovely sets.

There's a few comments here about constant acceleration until halfway, then constant deceleration the rest of the way, simulating normal gravity. I expected them to cover that, at least in passing, but unfortunately they didn't bother with a required turn-around at the time of the episodes (halfway there). Only

Exactly! I wish they'd at least had a bit of exposition to cover the issue (see my comment below for agreement) but writers often seem to be content with most viewers buying "there's just gravity, okay? Stop being disagreeable!"
Drain the pool… and no martinis during the transition. But zero-G would be impossible to

Oh… and I'm pretty sure they did spot an exoplanet in the Centauri system… whether around Proxima, I'm not sure.

It's GOT to be a pretty boring life to live. And with all the booze… they need a distillery running in the lower decks. There was a legit complaint I read elsewhere about how the males have butts too, what in this day and age.

That fast, you think? I'd have to look into it again, but for some reason (off the top of my head) I remember Project Orion was hoping for 0.1c …as in strictly interplanetary (but quick for those ranges, anyway). Of course, this IS fiction! They could've made it better, secretly of course.

I think that if they were under the impression that they were on Earth after some sort of holocaust (with radiation, fallout, super-disease, lawless gangs roaming and killing, whatever) there would still be interest in leaving and, of course, learning the truth. Especially if "the crisis" were strong enough an

I did wonder if supplies were placed onboard in secret… and if there were more than ONE recruited conspirator onboard who covered the trail… with almost all 'passengers' thinking that they just had such useful stuff all along.

The 'outside' chars did have a fit over sucking the air out of the apparently infamous but little-explained "deck 23" when the XO went snooping. Maybe saying "deck 23!" is on par with an American saying "nine-eleven!" (everybody knows and there's little need for further discussion). So perhaps the "airlock/vacuum"

Did someone say "artificial gravity?"
