I haven't heard anything about AllVid in a long time. That's usually not a good sign! If they can get that out, it'll be a win for everyone. CableCard is a bad solution and likely scares away people like Apple who wouldn't like the limitations it imposes.

Unfortunately, Cable Card is a standard and also mandated by the FCC and they can barely get the cable companies to comply. Apple would be in for a good fight. But... I say go for it! I'd buy an Apple DVR. I'm getting tired of paying Tivo who decided that they'd like to stop innovating and let their products fall

I'd love to see Apple make something to compete with Tivo, but I doubt they'd have the patience to bend over to Cable Labs in order to support cable cards.

If this were built to minifig scale, I'm pretty sure the thing won't fit in most houses!

For me, the 701C was the best IBM laptop ever. The folding butterfly keyboard was amazing and active matrix TFT ftw!

It's sad that something as simple as home ownership could be considered "entitlement".

The problem is that there's really isn't an official definition of "middle class" do you label it at a fixed amount ($100k) or by quality of lifestyle (size of house, location, etc).

Except the part where instability in the Fed Reserve can lead to market instability which hurts the middle class more when their 401ks, pension, and retirement funds get affected...

Skt, Not sure if you're referring to me. These threads aren't rendering in any easy way to follow. $100k *is* middle class.

skt.smth, your misdirected snark aside, you make my point exactly. I prefer to own my property and live without the need of roommates. I do so WITHIN my means. Which means no San Francisco. The point being, even at $100k/year, you'd have to be living way out of your means in SF for such a simple thing. So for me: SF,

It's not really "screw the poor people". It's about being realistic. Living on $100k a year in San Francisco will be a challenge. I'm a profession living in an expensive suburb of Los Angeles, and I quake in fear at the cost of San Francisco living. You can't just go around inflating everyone's salaries. Inflation

When I watched this last night, it looked like they were cheering when he first appeared on stage. It wasn't until he started his horrible "act" that people started booing.

My dad is an automotive engineer and I asked him this question a while ago. Most of the advise you've been given is both a little right and a little wrong.

The iOS software needs to be fixed, ofcourse. But there's no reason to suffer while waiting. If a router downgrade fixes it for now, so be it.

Yes, my iPad's wifi performance became lousy after the last update. I think I fixed the problem by changing my router firmware (WNDR3700v1) to an older one that seems to play better with my iPad. So far, so good, but it's only been 2 days since I did the change, so we'll see.

Grrr, stupid California. We have an "approved arms" list. Best we can do is the regular Glock Generation 3's over here. No Generation 4's and don't bothering lusting after these special additions unless you're a LEO. With that said, my new Viridian green laser looks pretty sweet on my Glock 20 Gen3.

This isn't really that complicated, but since you insist, there is no more Apples to Apples then RTFA'ing.

I just went and read the article at the source and it says they were charged with leaking company trade secrets. Apparently, that is a crime there.

Of course not, but you're not comparing apples to apples. You're example is explicit fraud on the side of the person who put the phone in the cart.

on 1. The hooker doesn't own the hotel. And even if she did, leaving something at someone's place of residence doesn't give them the right to keep it. "Finders keepers" is not legal.
