Welcome newcomers to this article! Before replying with your indignant rage, I would like to take a moment to encourage you to actually RTFA, and not just Gizmodo's terse summary. Numerous other tech blogs have discounted this rumor and reaffirmed the previously seen $800-price tag for the Xoom. We'll just assume

Motorola probably doesn't have much to do with the pricing, but I'll approve you for being a voice of reason.

Is the 64GB iPad 3G overpriced? Because that's the Xoom's nearest competition. You're delusional if you think Verizon and Best Buy are going to give away tablets with specs better than the top-of-the-line iPad for less than what Apple is charging.

The only thing you're paying for is 3G, and that's what people here don't get. Spec-wise, the Xoom competes with the $829 dollar 64GB iPad 3G, not the 16GB Wi-Fi only variant. But nobody ever said there isn't a Wi-Fi only version coming—in fact every indication is the opposite.

No, it isn't. Gizmodo is wrong, and plenty of other tech blogs have already reaffirmed the $800 price (read the source, for one.)

Oh, it's cyclical here. When Apple screws up, Gizmodo generally lays into them. What bothers me is that nobody screwed up here—it was just a rumor that has since been discounted, but this article still trumpets it like fact. During CES I felt like Gizmodo's coverage of Honeycomb in general and the Xoom in

That isn't the price. Engadget has all but confirmed it. The Xoom will cost $800.

That's exactly what Motorola did, actually. The Xoom is $30 less than a comparable iPad.

Show me where you can get a brand new 3G iPad with more than 32GB of storage for $400 dollars, please.

It costs $30 less than the most comparable iPad, and it's a more capable design!

Every other tech blog is satisfied that it's a placeholder. What Giz suddenly has against the Xoom, I don't know, but their coverage has been very unfair lately, if only for not following up on the rumors they post.

I don't see how they could even do that since the tablet runs stock Honeycomb, unless locking down the Wi-Fi is a feature of Honeycomb, which we know it isn't because we have the SDK. The most plausible explanation I've heard is that the flier meant "Wi-Fi Hotspotting," which actually does make some sense. Of

I believe that is a setting you can turn off.

300000 activations a day and you don't think there is room for another manufacturer? The Android party isn't too crowded; it's just getting started.

You're right, it's better to just go bankrupt.

Don't.

Because nobody pays taxes anymore.
