@Chris Langro: But it was okay when they covered the iPad release the exact same way? It sounds to me like you're the one with a chapped ass.

The unfortunate thing is that this huge, dedicated user base negates a lot of the incentive Apple might otherwise have had to improve its products. If they could sell 600000 iPhones in one day, before anyone actually knew what design flaws and manufacturing defects that device would have, why should they devote a lot

Isn't there some law that protects consumers from this? It shouldn't be legal for, let's say, Ford, to build a car with airbags that are engineered to not inflate, and then offer to fix it for an additional charge, right? At the very least iPhone owners should be considering a class action suit against Apple.

@photojojo: Commenting in an iPhone thread is not trolling.

@Mark 2000: Curse them with your wallet.

@NuevoLeon: I realize that. It's still a tiny sampling.

50 units seems like a pretty useless sampling of all the phones they sold.

@Justin Reich: Gizmodo's always been more sensationalist than Engadget, even with their praise. Remember Giz's coverage of the iPad launch? It was article after article extolling the virtues of what is, in effect, a larger iPod. You can't say Gizmodo is anti-Apple without some major rewriting of history.

@Justin Reich: If these problems were real, what would you have Gizmodo do?

North Korea already has the bomb, it's Ahmadinejad that could use these instructions. Fortunately for us this website is probably blocked in Iran.

Hey new commenters, the "in Soviet Russia" jokes aren't witty or funny, and they won't get you approved. If that's all you have to say, please don't bother. Your cooperation is appreciated, but not anticipated.

@gebinsk: Also I'd like to say, for those of you who haven't made your purchase yet, I tried very hard to recreate the antenna issue with my friend's phone and wasn't able to. Based on the comments I've read it seems only about 50% of the phones are affected. That might indicate it's a manufacturing defect, although

After a few hours playing with a friend's iPhone 4, the one impression that overwhelms all others is that this is the most fragile phone I've ever handled. Of course, as others have pointed out, any cellphone screen will shatter if dropped, but every surface of the iP4 is liable to breakage, which will undoubtedly

@MYMHM: It isn't a standard format.

It's about time they laid HVGA to rest. The FWVGA screen is probably the number one reason I chose the Droid over the other phones I was considering at the time, and it is marvelous (especially compared to the old iPhone.) I really hope this establishes FWVGA as the new minimum resolution for smartphones.
