Yeah, those people spend 21 days getting their motherloving butts kicked. And they're supposedly much better prepared than your average joe and jane would be. The message of that show is pretty clearly "Do not do this. Ever."

I had a lot of respect for the man especially in his later efforts in telling the stories of older cultures through the lens of the lessons they could teach us in primitive living and subsistence. I pretty much lost it with the Bigfoot incident especially when he put stuff out there that I can't help but think that…
Both points are totally true.
Things I have learned from reading these articles:
I can't remember where he was, but the time he set his own shelter on fire... So much love for that man. Or when he had the "broken arm" until he just got sick of it.
But Survivorman, the show, never makes that claim either. It's just a show about surviving specific regions/incidents. I'm not sure what your deal is on this, but besides those who you mentioned. Les Stroud is the real deal.
Les Stroud lost pretty much all his credibility when he decided to devote a multi-part show in which he goes out hunting for Bigfoot with some dude (who many consider to be a fraud; Les Stroud lending his credibility to this man is a HUGE disservice to his fans). His mind took a camping trip and never came back. I…
I am right in your camp regarding Les. He seems to present practical somewhat real world advice about survival. I doubt very few of us will ever see Africa let alone be stranded in the Savannah due to a hot air balloon crash, but getting lost on a hunting trip or long distance mountain bike ride is in the realm of…
Les Stroud breaks his camera to use the lens to start a fire.
Even Les is led through his environments by local experts before he does the actual taping. Although he fully admits to it, so it's not like he's pulling the wool over our eyes. And MAN he makes grasshoppers look delicious. "Oh yeah! mmm!" whenever he eats one. I'd totally go camping with him.
Writes an article on survival television. Isn't sure which one is Survivorman.
He is Survivorman. He goes out alone, without a camera crew, and is much more realistic about surviving including showing how a lot of "survival" gear is crap. I enjoy it a lot more than the others even with the occasional harmonica playing.
I'm not sure that you are qualified to write this article if you are unfamiliar with Survivorman.
I don't think he's ex military. Just a Canadian dude who has enjoyed being outdoors his whole life. One show stands out to me where he shows that it took him over 8 hours to start a fire with a friction method showing that it's difficult even for so called experts . When it comes to realism he definitely is at the…
It's not about real or fake. I like staying in hotels sometimes too, as does everyone. Bear Grylls is a total badass who has nothing to prove. But, viewers are not getting realistic survival advice from his show.
survivorman is the best!!!! Bear Grylls climbs a 25 foot tree for coconuts while Les just throws a rock. I think i know which method i would use if ever stranded on an isle.
Although I completely agree the Bear Grylls show is faked, Les Stroud is the original badass. Bear Grylls goes around and puts himself into dumb situations just to show what you should do in the event you somehow find yourself in that kind of situation. Then he goes and sleeps in a hotel until the next shot. Les…
This may not be the best time to mention this, but TMNT has a 24% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yes they make them and there are more new brands then anyone can imagine. Yamaha still makes the superjet, Kawasaki makes the sxr800 etc. BOB, BackieChan, Hurricane, EME Micro, WDK Rokr, Aquabot, Trinity, Krash Footrocket, Krash JB1 the list goes on and on....these are standup jetskis by the way, not lazy sitdown…
