It’s almost as if, when you make a movie that is good and that has women and people of color in key roles, women and people of color will go see it and white men won’t be scared away either.

he’ll piss all over it to make it “his.”
Yeah, this! For instance: I love the idea of “General Leia Organa,” the idea that she’s still committing her life to fighting for the same ideals she’s always fought for, refusing to stop fighting even though the battle’s been going on for so long.
Disagree on the quality of the names. I always hated the name "Jasen."
If you want a happy ending, that depends, of course, on where you stop your story.
Many people do though. For me, Star Wars was born in cinema and is almost a pitch perfect creation of that form. I don’t mind people having fun with it (I loved Tie Fighter) but I only had to accept that stuff into my head canon as much as I chose to. This is a bit different.
Who was it who said something like getting a happy ending depends on where you end the story?
There is never enough of Han Solo
Yes, there has to be flashbacks in the next Star Wars movie to explain Ren’s turn to the Dark Side. Pretty simple reasoning and no surprise there. Can not wait to see that. GREAT movie by the way. Also, *POTENTIAL SPOILER* we’ll likely get confirmation in those flashbacks that Rey was actually Luke’s daughter!
Fancy chocolate is overrated anyway. Give me Toblerone or Milka and I am good.
Her dialogue makes it clear it’s not a case of just putting more pressure on. “I *ought* to say no no no sir” “at least I’m going to say that I tried” “maybe just a half a drink more” “maybe just a cigarette more”. She then goes on about how her concerns are all about other people but she’d like to stay. And he’s…
I think it’s both. You can tell from the lyrics that she’s at the least conflicted and possibly just playing coy. But that doesn’t change the fact that, whatever her reasons, she’s saying let’s call it a night and he’s not taking no for answer. It still plays into that ‘I can tell she really wants to’ mentality where…
Except she makes if clear that she wants to stay, countering each of her own reasons for leaving with wishing she could stay longer, asking for a drink or cigarette, or planning to “say that she tried” to leave if she faces shit for choosing to stay with him.
I think what complicates things is that the norms of dating back them really are against modern sensibilities. What we call rape now back then was seen as boys will be boys. It’s was a woman’s job to say no, and a man’s job to persist. And neither of them labeled it rape, even if it was rape.
“Ur so hott Will u go out w me”
Somehow guys believe you’d possibly want to go out with them after they insulted you or something you care about. And then they insult your looks when they get shot down. So charming (not).
What an object of heated romantic interest in the real world.
Let’s take a moment to look at the stunning beauty that is Jeffrey Wells...
Ditto. I absolutely hate the results of the botox in terms of emoting and how it’s changed my face, but I keep getting it because holy shit going from 20 migraines a month to 1-2 has been amazeballs.
I have to say, I have Botox done for my migraines (by my neurologist!), and it sucks. I hate not being able to make squinty faces. I hate that it actually hurts my forehead when I unconsciously attempt to furrow my brow in concentration. I think I will likely take wrinkles over this for realsies. If it didn’t stop my…
