@Mark 2000: agreed. I'm a product designer. You can always tell the old timers in my job . They're the one's who look confused when I walk into the room dressed to the nines and remove my fitted tweed sportcoat and rolled up my tailored shirt's sleeves to reveal an arm covered in tattoos.

@max: well done sir!

@Captain_Tripps: good answer and really the only reason necessary for something to be on io9 IMHO.

Where is that WWII crit you mentioned. I googled it but only got back to here.

@FrankN.Stein: IDK. While I was never a fan of Dawn and understood fully why she joined the show, I thought the way she was written in was probably the most clever execution of that particular trope. Granted I haven't seen the afforementioned supernatural ep yet.

@hurbieta: didn't they also paint that thing with thermite?

@java.android: ROFL...and I have to toss mine over my shoulder when I take a shit.

@all oiled up: How am I supposed to know that? He/She/it (what is the correct pronoun for a Thai ladyboy anyway?) won't be born for atleast another 15 years.

@Cash907Censored: You have to make it though the first season before you can get it. The entire first season is mostly standalone episodes. S2 & 3 is where it really shines, but if you try to start in the middle it won't make much sense to you..

Man, I love Octavia Butler, but Kindred for beach reading?

@EnderKiller: super strong vampire remember? I'm sure his erection can just rip through the front of his pants.

@nachtwulf: "a Trekkie never called an enmass beat down on a non-Trekkie"

@mordicai: I thought the justification for war against the Iridians was that if someone didn't oppose them they would just keep exapanding. If I remember correctly The Culture could have just ignored the Iridians because the Iridian mentatality was to occupy planets, whereas The Culture don't even use planets, they

@Ett: Consider Phlebas to me is the least Culture of the Culture books, probably because the main character is pretty atagonistic towards The Culture.

@aquajaws: No San Francisco love?
