The Leaf will probably qualify until the IRS finally releases their battery guidance. I’m not sure if Nissan is still building the battery in the US or not.

So many Bolt critics say it can’t be used as a long distance car. I say...you just have to have more patience. Yes, it will take longer to charge, but that doesn’t make it NOT capable of traveling long distances.
EV Critics: GIVE US A CHEAP, LONG-RANGE EV!
Yeah I got to say I am real tempted to get a Bolt with the tax credit back in place. $20k is about where I’d be willing to be for a car with limited functionality.
Does this look like Jalopnik to you?
I found a (kind of) plot hole immediately. The Buick Regal the parents are offering in the ad is a Fourth Generation Regal (1997-2005), it’s too old for the Uber vehicle requirements.
Sounds reminiscent of Failure to Launch.
First Gear: I think the lack of EV repairs and the like is overhyped.
You know you’re desperate to get some hotlinks into your article when you’re writing “the guy wears shirts, specifically this shirt”
We own two EVs and a PHEV. I got the first EV (an eGolf) in 2017, and the second (a Model 3) in 2021. In that time, I’ve had two total service appointments. The eGolf needed a warranty repair on a bad satellite radio antenna, and I had a HomeLink transponder installed on the Model 3. Other than the first episode,…
I really appreciate James’s insight regarding the Bentayga vs Rav4 hybrid consideration. “More money, more problems.” A fancy car is not just a normal car with nicer features. They come with unwanted “features” that make your life difficult just because they can. Like simple filters and wear-and-tear items are going…
When I was a kid it was unusual and noteworthy for a car to reach 100,000 miles. So it’s only been 20-30 years that has become an expectation.
Wow, thats pretty! I just bought my Model 3 and road tripped it 2800 miles, most stations were just 8-12 stalls, but typically only 2-3 were used at any given time. Once, there were only 2/12 available. The stations at hotels are pretty good too, you can go inside for free coffee, wifi, bathrooms, snacks and watch TV…
It’d be interesting to see numbers on this as a percentage of total operations and compare it to how many times a day or week a gas station somewhere in the US pumps bad gas.
There is something to be said about the ubiquity of Tesla’s supercharger set up. I see them in far more locations than the Electrify America chargers and I haven’t heard of any issues with a supercharger frying a Tesla. I am by no means a Tesla supporter but credit where credit is due when it comes to building up a…
Such a professional job without a plan of what to do with the cars afterwards
There are tons of people who tow heavy things short distances: Local contractors towing Bobcats. People towing boats to the ocean/lake (I could reach the ocean and back or about 50 different lakes and back even with only 90 miles of range). It’s not misleading at all to say what the max towing capacity is. Gas trucks…
I can’t figure out how GM could legally not honor the factory warranty.
You think that line was coincidental?
