The problem there is that then Uber wouldn’t truly know whether or not their system worked or if it was Volvo’s system that worked. Disabling the system actually makes sense.

What happens when you have a lane departure system that is fighting with the autonomous steering system?

They likely stripped in a garage somewhere. Knowing where would be the benefit you would get from a tracker. No guarantee, but it might have helped. I know someone that had a GPS tracker on a delivery truck that was stolen and later dumped and it lead right to the shop where it was stripped.
