The G8 was always better looking than the SS, even after the 8+ years. The SS always looked like a tarted up Malibu, and was priced way too high. I tested a then new G8 GT in 2008 for 28,xxx out the door. The SS was NEVER that cheap, and never was a proper replacement IMHO.
That’s a sad story, but realistically, the last few model year Pontiacs were quite reliable and durable. You’ll see tons of G6 with over 200K without any major issues, for example.

Tesla is in kind of a bind on this one anyway. Without a normal dealership network, and without the need for regualr service, there is no means of simply putting out a bulletin to their dealership service department to make a cursory check of the part as the other automakers would.

You mean like GM’s ignition switch? Toyota’s accelerator? Chrysler’s shifter?
I should check this out. It’s a good idea to have your affairs in order, but you need to live your life for yourself. Not leaving behind clutter shouldn’t be a priority over your own enjoyment.
Third point of advice is, don’t buy a house in an HOA neighborhood. There’s nothing less American than signing over your freedom to some no-name committee of neighborhood snitches. HOAs can fuck right off.
