Indeed they were! At least to some sort of cellular connection with GPS. For GM, it’s OnStar, which has been around since 1996. My 2009 Pontiac G8 includes “Remote Ignition Block” in which authorities can ping the car to disable the ignition. My mom’s 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix even had a cell phone integrated into the

You think Melon Musk is paying me to say that a 2009 Pontiac has the same feature as a new Tesla?

Or really a very large number of cars made since the 1990s, not a Tesla-specific thing. My 2009 Pontiac has the ability to be remotely disabled. Quite likely your daily driver does too.

Most manufacturers don’t distinguish between vertical load and tongue weight limits. Usually tongue weight limit is 10% of towing capacity. So an F150 has about 700-1000lbs tongue weight limit.

I never said we for sure would. But we won’t in anyone’s life time if we don’t start developing the technology. We happen to live in the period of time when development is seriously ramping up.

You can’t just fly a rocket to Mars without first mastering Earth’s orbit, nor can you safely put people on Mars without first mastering satellite communication networks. If getting to Mars was easy, we would’ve done it in the 1960s.

Imagine how much worse it would be if Tesla was instead not a fully electric car company. And imagine how much worse it would be for SpaceX if they were discarding the booster rockets into the sea like every other rocket company.

Neom is a region, maybe more like a state or a metro area rather than a single place. So does it have a boring suburb? sure. You could say the same about NYC, that it’s supposed to be this metropolis but then only show a picture of White Plains or something.

Here we go, found this on TorqueNews. Looks like it does have some sort of sandwich on the front, and then just electric on the back.

I think you would be shocked to find out that’s not the case. Only 5% of ICE car fires are the result of a collision. You’re much much much more likely to have an ICE car catch on fire when parked.

Bingo

I remember when there was that Jeep full EV prototype thing, it still had an actual transmission with 4WD and such, and wasn’t direct-drive like almost all other EVs on the market. So I would be surprised if the PHEV has any sort of direct drive. I think with the Prius Prime, one axle is electric and one axle is gas

Also transmission drag, probably?

When were those ever promised for any timeline that has already passed? Are you thinking of the $35k that was promised, and was also delivered?

My thoughts as an owner:

That wouldn’t help if you left the key inside the vehicle though which I’m guessing is the case here. Due to the context I’m suspecting the driver’s phone battery was dead (or they had turned off bluetooth). When they exited the vehicle, the car thought the owner had just gone out of range with their phone and locked

My point is that it was not purely a joy ride to space. It was a fundraiser that raised literally hundreds of millions of dollars for charity and conducted valuable science.

I said:

Yes I suppose being the highest altitude woman in history, and youngest woman on a space walk is definitely one for the record books!
