This is just one small section of a much larger project. $53m for 1.7 miles might sound like a lot, but it’s cents on the dollar against the industry standard. NYC second ave subway built in 2017 was $2.5 billion for 1.8 miles, so this is a 47x cost savings compared to that. LA’s purple line was $103m per mile. San…
Have you driven one? I thought it was a hilariously fun car when I rented one for a week. It’s like the modern take on an Austin Mini type vehicle and could’ve fit two of them in a single parking space. Obviously not meant for the sprawl of the midwest but great for anything suburbs or denser.
So what you’re saying is that it got you from A to B quickly and drama-free, and this is a horrible bad thing, and somehow doesn’t make it count as infrastructure? The cost of construction was a huge cost savings over expensive traditional infrastructure, less congested than surface traffic, and much quicker than…
Due to the new EV federal tax credit changing to be point-of-sale in 2024 and this vehicle qualifying, the 2024 Chevy Equinox will really start at $27,495 for qualifying buyers!
Smash and grab in 10 seconds with the windows is one thing, but to then get out some prybar and fumble around for a minute or two trying to pry open a glove box with the loudest car alarm you’ve ever heard with onlookers starting to catch on is another
My issue is that I have an HVAC duct running across the ceiling. I’m unsure if the hatch actually has a sensor to prevent it from hitting things (like the doors on the Model X do), but I worry that since the HVAC vent is off center and relatively narrow, it wouldn’t be seen.
It goes without saying that if you don’t have the feature enabled, then it’s not going to do it.
It does indeed seem like it has the same transmission as a dump truck, but it’s still quite a fun car
I was thinking of this just this morning as I was sitting at a red light next to a diesel school bus, and had to cover my nose with my shirt for a few more moments waiting for the light to turn green. Fortunately I only commuted to school by yellow bus for 4 or 5 years in my academic career as I lived within walking…
I’ve only been to SF once and don’t plan on going back. Saw some guy using what I imagine was a crack pipe on the sidewalk in the Fisherman’s Wharf area. Also insanely expensive.
On many/most modern cars (including Tesla), there’s a physical button for volume on the steering wheel that does that so you don’t have to use a slider. On Tesla specifically, it’s sort of like a computer mouse wheel where you click up or down. There’s one on the other side of the wheel for cruise control speed and…
Regarding the trunk, you can stop it manually with your hand. You can even hold down the trunk close button and it will save that height as the max height to open, so from then on you can just pop it and it will know not to open any further. Unfortunately I don’t think that feature is geo-located, but I imagine…
“The car will know what you want and do it for you, including indicating/turn-signals.” Sure, buddy. Whatever you say
RE: Smart car
If your issue is that the Next button has a delay before you’re allowed to press it, the pack is to go to the slideshow list, then the Previous button has no delay so you can click through them quickly
According to the California Department of Insurance, the insurance company did not do anything wrong
I’ve definitely had troubles with gas stations and ICE rentals, like in Hawaii. Struggled to find a gas station near the airport dropoff, went to one that was apparently active military only, had to find a different one. So not unique an EV problem though it certainly skews that way.
I certainly had that problem at the last hotel I stayed in. There’s 2 chargers but only one parking spot (unless you park in the handicapped space), and it kept getting filled by various Jeep Wrangler 4xE hybrids that probably only take an hour to charge but would leave themselves plugged in overnight, so I would snag…
