Though the Austin factory shut down during this quarter for upgrades and appears to have been making Cybertruck panels, but not outputting Cybertruck itself yet

Jalopnik massively benefits from it. Stirring up controversy is the #1 rule of clickbait and they’ve had a decade now to hone their skills at it.

Same here, both daily drivers are now EVs. We just took a road trip, 8 hours each way, and only had to charge once in the middle for 20ish minutes or however long it took us to eat Subway at a highway rest stop and then take a leak. People vastly underestimate how far along the charging infrastructure already is

Here you go: it was headline news this past week. But Jalopnik is doubtful to touch the story since they typically only post the anti-Tesla narrative

Citation granted:

I guess you missed the media blitz earlier in the year when it was on every news site, though probably specifically not Jalopnik because it goes against their typical stance

assuming Tesla is even still around in that time frame

The same could’ve been said about the iPhone 15 just two weeks ago

With as estimated 2 million reservation orders, I don’t think it’s exactly apples to orange to compare a limited run of vehicles evaluating a brand new technology against a factory likely freshly given the go-head to tool up for mass scale production of a vehicle that contains mostly already-proven technology.

Worth pointing out that while the numbers were “less than Bloomberg expected”, they were still 100k or 27% above their all-time record for Q3.

RE: 1st gear:

I noticed that too. Have to click the next button like 4 times

It looks good from some angles, but I really don’t like the front 3/4. It’s like a BMW grew a mustache and is just weirdly tall front end as a whole considering the profile of the car

But styled differently enough that unless you knew in advance, you wouldn’t have guessed they were the same platform. I actually like the front of the Honda better. More elegant, where the front of the Chevy is just so much black plastic and ridiculously over styled fog lights

Totally forgot there was even a widget! Takes up too much space on my phone screen so I just click the app from my home screen or from the persistent notification if I ever need to do that stuff

Then, with my car as a use-case, you can just remote start the HVAC from your phone with only two clicks from the home screen of your phone, still without needing line of sight or anything from the car. And we have the “Cabin Overheat Protection” mode on where the interior of the car is prevented from ever exceeding

I’m going to take this a step further and say cars with scheduled remote starts.

And 20 minutes is all you need to charge most modern EVs on a level 3 DC fast charger, like a Supercharger, so it works out well. Park the car at the charger, and kill two birds with one stone, since you don’t have to get gas separately and then move the car. You’re already going to be inside using the bathroom,
