First I want to acknowledge my privilege of having very light skin; I am biracial, though I have a brother who is pretty dark — and that’s what I want to touch on.

He is 17, so perhaps he can be educated.

Her self-hatred stems from abusive done at the hands of my grandmother, who always favored my mother’s older, very light-skinned sister and made sure my mom never forgot it.

I don’t need no black bitch

And here I am lathering up in Maui Babe browning lotion & sitting in the sun in hopes of getting darker.

I’ve talked about this before but I was raised by a mother who struggled with colorism (and many other things.) I obviously didn’t know what was happening until I moved away, cut off contact and started taking Black Studies classes but being raised with that fucked me up so much. We lived, worked and went to church

Im old enough to remember the Black is Beautiful wave in hip-hop.  At some point we the fans have to start cancelling this coonery on sight

So they tossed the house and confiscated all the cash, guns, prescriptions written out to family members, and illegal drugs, right?

From a white person’s inside perspective, I’ll tell you that a huge portion of that 70% can’t get past thinking they’re being personally attacked when the subject of racism comes up. The conversation just stops there. It takes a lot of work to get them to look at the bigger picture and admit that there’s a problem.

“What else is it going to take for the 70% to realize that they’ve got to choose a side?

The problem is that 70% is either willfully misinformed (they get their news exclusively from Fox News) or they don’t really give a shit. They don’t know any black people (they might know a black person who they will happily claim to be besties with) and are happy to ignore anything they might hear about unless it it

The way I see it, White people can be divvied up this way:

^^That’s arguably a pretty powerful business case. I wish it had been made before it became public knowledge that The Root and the other GMG Univision-owned properties were up for sale, because that seems like it’d be a pretty credible argument to a media-based parent company who actually understood it … but who

ahem, madam, the district attorney’s office has decided to add an enhancement to your charges.”

You know they didn’t. I had greys doing the RussianBot equivalent of screaming at me that “THERE WAS A GUN IN HIS HAND” in that story of Angela’s last weekend about that cop who shot and murdered that black barber.

I wish it were a felony as opposed to a misdemeanor. That housecoat alone ought to elevate the severity of the charges.

The Root really should increase it’s staff and operational budget like 10x or 20x. As more and more of these articles surface and are pushed out onto a national platform, the more white people will understand that there is a direct financial and psychological cost associated with airing their bigotries publicly.

She had multiple warrants. She ran from the officers inside her residence. The officers were forced to make forced entry into her residence and took her into custody without further incident,” Sgt. Paul Davis told the news station.

He’s in rich-people jail, from the looks of that photo.

Quoth Rick James: “Cocaine is a hell of a drug..”  Best of luck to brother Earl Simmons, I hope he gets the rehab he needs and some competent financial help to square away any remaining debt issues-- it’s a dirty game, but you have to play.  I also hope he can come out with some new music that’s funky but not
