The scam would be if a debit card was cloned. Basically scammers hook up a machine to say an atm that, when a card is used, “copies” the info onto a “blank” card. They would then put their own name on that blank card so the ID thing wouldn’t be a deterrent. So when they use that cloned card the money is real, but…

If you use a debit card, have the PIN, and have an ID (even if out of state), why can’t you get a Money Order? The money is removed immediately. Or is that they’re trying to process it as a credit transaction?
