Where does Ashley Tisdale work regularly enough that she has her name painted into a parking spot?
In an interview with the Daily News, the President and CEO of Lane Bryant, Linda Heasley said: “We’re not throwing shade, but we’re definitely throwing curve.”
So let’s just get this straight... many states (and many republicans) don’t want to let women who get pregnant from rape have abortions, BUT they are ok with letting that child live with an abusive and dangerous person.
The fear in her voice made me cry.
I understand that, but it does matter who said it. Accuracy matters. Every time a false quote makes the rounds on Facebook (etc.) we all lose a few more brain cells.
no, when i first heard it...i was like, that’s a little weak, usually Angelou’s words resonate with me. then i found out it wasn’t from her and it made complete since.
The profundity of the statement is irrelevant. They honored a WRITER by using a quote that wasn’t hers. They fucked up big time and are just trying to spin it to make them look less idiotic.
A USPS spokesman says, “The sentence was chosen to accompany her image on the stamp to reflect her passion for the written and spoken word … and because we fucked up.”
The whole “he/she went for my gun. I was in fear for my life” is like the new “they’re coming right for us!”. It really seems like something you yell to justify killing something & for no other reason.
it's the go to excuse for police violence, that and they were 'scared for their lives'. with those magic words any (white, male) cop can get away with beating/killing any perp (mostly because they mostly go after the poor/poc/both perps).
Another thing is how many times when someone “reaches for the weapon” is it just a hand brushing the belt? The officers are escalating the situation and getting physical, so some people will react by trying to push the cop away. Or their arm/hand will be put in such a way that it comes into contact with the belt. With…
I like the way you think.
My father was an officer for 30+ years and he said, in all that time, it maybe happened a dozen times. So less than once a year. he’s also only fired his weapon not even half a dozen times, only one resulted in a death (the man that died was going to stab his daughter so I’m not shedding any tears). But my dad said…
Clearly officers would be safer if they didn't have a weapon for the public to lunge at.
If we’re to believe the reports, everyone everywhere who has any interaction with law enforcement whatsoever lunges for the damn things.
How often do suspects actually reach for an officer’s weapon? That explanation sure seems to come up an awful lot whenever someone is mistreated/injured/killer by a cop.
