If by “house current”, you mean a 120v 15 amp wall outlet, that is effectively 1,440 watts of power (120v * (15w * 80%)). That much power is equal to about 4 miles of range per hour of charge. A 10 hour overnight charge would give you 40 miles.

No different than what happens on modern ICE cars. I had a 2011 VW Jetta, and I bought an electronic device that allowed me to reprogram the onboard software from my tablet. I could also buy optional components that my car didn’t have (like fog lights) and program the car to accept the new components.

Cars in collections aren’t really considered “useful”. They’re purchased for reasons besides their utility.
