240v power is indeed sent to the car. The onboard chargers handle converting the 120v or 240v AC input power to the ~375v DC of the battery.
They are recalling just the adapters.
Stop talking about the head and start talking about that awesome 4 axle single piece truck!
Speak for yourself. My power is 100% renewable because I buy my utility’s renewable power option.
Gotta start somewhere. The percentage of renewables and carbon neutral power generation is increasing. And depending on where you are, the percentage of coal is already way less that 70%, and is slated to get better. Oregon has already signed into law to get off coal power entirely by 203o.
Awesome negative response.
Meh. At these temps, steel wheels won’t melt, but they won’t stay round either. Steel looses its strength pretty dang fast as its heated. Thats why in steel construction, steel is required to be protected from heat and fire in some way (fire sprinklers, being encased in layers of drywall, spray fireproofing, etc), and…
I’m constantly amazed by people who seem to make a final decision on a technology while things are constantly changing.
Haven’t driven any of my “dream” cars yet (any of the McLaren stable, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, etc), and not sure I’ll ever get to in the conditions I’d want.
Geh mehr Bier Holen.
(Translation: Go get more beer.)
Ah crap. So that’s where my inlaws get that bullshit they repost on FB...
I’m getting really tired of this whole “You can’t get something for nothing” BS. I mean, isn’t that what imagination and technology is for? Surely we can figure our way past all these pesky “laws” of physics. Maybe if we look at them more like guidelines...
Or, you could get an electric car, plug it in at home and never have to go to the gas station again...
Try driving electric. Specifically, a Model S. Its the only non-manual car I’ll ever recommend. (I’ll probably recommend other high performance electric vehicles too, as they become available, but I wasn’t overly impressed with the Nissan Leaf. That felt like an automatic to me...)
Ug. That sounds horrible.
Nice story, enjoyable read. I’ve “found” that frustration in cars before as well. As much as I wanted to love the car, some quirk would annoy me. Usually, I would just put up with it, or challenge myself to accept it, because I really like owning a car for a long time (5 years or more typically).
DAT is an expensive big beige-filled sponge.
The people who run these auto manufacturers aren’t going to sit on their hands waiting for The Donald to move into the White House and then start making decisions.
Tesla driver here. Same experience. I’m very careful in parking lots and slow speeds assuming people don’t hear the car. I’ve been amazed at how many people just step out into a traffic lane without even the slightest look in either direction.
