If you don’t want to tip the 36$, don’t order the $200 bottle of wine. Stay at home, buy it for cheaper & serve it to yourself.
Oh, and yeah, we never have to do anything else during those minutes then serve drinks-like cut fruit and make garnishes before your shift, refill ice when it runs low, wash glasses, clear the bar, clear plates and scrape them down before putting in the kitchen, wash down the bar, clean up from drunks who spill drinks…
Seriously, the second time I heard this. In what world do you think we don’t pay taxes? Yeah, the IRS is going to let that happen.. What??!!
Um, most people I work with have a bachelor’s degree, a couple even have masters (maybe that is mostly just certain places/cities?) But working in a bar can be fun and highly paid. I actually got into it to start paying off my student loans quickly and then decided I liked the business and wanted to learn everything…
On what planet do you think we don’t have to pay taxes? Most transcend are on credit cards now, so the irs can tell exactly what you are making, and if you report a lower than 11% tip on the small amount of cash transactions that are left you are going to get audited eventually. My 9$ an hour paycheck always comes out…
Or, the point is, just don’t be an asshat, figure out what you want and have your money ready. And yeah, maybe a tip because that’s what we get paid with. Otherwise we are working for you for free.
