I think Bucky being one of the first targets of the registration act is an impetus, but I doubt it’s everything. Cap just needed a personal conflict to spur him to action in opposition to the act. Otherwise he may have just gone with it.

It’s about registering powered people and civil liberties.

I have something of a feeling that the process has something to do with the murderbot that almost killed everyone plus time to reflect on things.

That was the biggest strength of Winter Soldier - the effects of the story were potentially massive, but they kept the camera on our main characters without letting it get out of hand, so it felt relatively contained until the final battle.

Where the hell did this come from? Was there any advance notice or did Marvel just decide to pick up the mic they dropped with Jessica Jones and drop that motherfucker again in less than a week’s time?

If you haven’t been able to follow what’s happening in the movies just by watching them, I don’t think the problem lies with what Marvel is doing.

But...reading a full comic book series isn’t required to understand the movies. The movies are completely separate from the comics.

I know nothing about the comics, but have no issue keeping track.

The comic is awful, and hopefully this movie barely resembles it in any way other than the core notion of superheroes being regulated as a source of conflict.

Looks like Bucky will be the catalyst for the conflict this time around.
