Potential failure mode plays a big part in why it works the way it works. If the car goes into some sort of a limp mode or won’t drive when a door is open, an otherwise minor sensor failure or code issue with it’s “door closed” signal becomes a tow-truck situation. On the other hand if that sensor fails and the driver

When I was a kid I was pumping gas for my mom. This was all pre pay at the pump. And usually pumps were left on. I got out, put the nozzle in the car and tried to get gas. Spent probably about 5 minutes waiting. Finally realized they weren’t going to turn it on.  Went inside to ask them to turn it on.  Came back out

Yep. They just pop out of a quick release valve. Not really a big deal. But super embarrassing.

IIRC, modern fuel hoses are designed to detach like this, because people are idiots

What is it about SUV drivers forgetting stuff. Is sitting up “HIGH” that is the problem?

Around 1995, I bought a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special with a dealer-installed 8-track. My father had a collection of 8-track tapes sitting around so I popped one in. It played once. Sounded amazing, but as soon as it got to the end of the loop, the tape holding the splice together gave way, ending that tape’s

My mom went from its platform-mate Granada (‘81) to an ‘88 Reliant. She would agree that the K car was a step up.

I’m old enough to have driven one of these new. And don’t have any desire to repeat the experience. Plus, I’ve ditched all my 8 tracks.

My theory - have posted this before I know - is that in “normal times”, these folks get out their racism in dozens of tiny micro-aggressions every week.

“Nevertheless, the language that was used, and making it so personal, was a level that we have not seen in this sport before.”

People seem to forget that the penalties and rules need to apply across a wide range of situations, not just this particular one.

I think I’m in the minority, but I think the stewards got it right. Hamilton made a desperate move and it didn’t work, so he got a penalty. A harsher penalty than we’ve seen from the other 3 similar incidents from the last race. Hamilton just happened to be in the fastest car and Bottas/Mercedes were able to get him

That’s what gets me! So worst case scenario, she drives away and he can’t catch her, and then... the end? He has her plate, they can send her a ticket or summons in the mail.

“Why didn’t you stop?” Dunn questioned.

Cameras are just the worst thing that’s happened for cops. Youtube is just chock filled with video of cops doing bad things. It really makes you question the whole “bad apples” idea.

So this piece of shit almost killed a woman and her unborn child because she was speeding.

Check to make sure your calipers don’t require the piston to rotate before trying this.

Search “[Your car and year] brake replacement” on youtube. I’d pretty much guarantee you can find a detailed video documenting how to do the swap, tools needed, things to look out for, etc

Tip to push the caliper piston back in: take one of the old brake pads and place it on the piston. Then use your tool to push on the old brake pad and it’ll apply an even downward force on the piston. This will prevent any rocking of the piston in its bore (if you were to do it like in the video) and will require less
