Just to add to the discussion, it is interesting how it isn't an absolute of "no one should ever put their hands on a woman." If there is no reason to hit a woman, why is it only directed at one sex? There are so many holes in the reasoning beyond the extremes of 'well what if they are trying to kill me.'

This is going to sound like a challenging question, but it is not the intent. What were the public cases? I had not heard of them, but since I follow the news irregularly this is not surprising (at least to me).

As some one who has moderated for a site many years ago, as well as had short pg rated (I was very prudish) side career. 90-95% of paying customers of cam people are men. Many viewer on the men's side of things claimed to be women, but payment info said otherwise.

IMO: Women are often praised for things they are born with / into, men have performance expectations. Both sexes benefit from inherited features, but it appears to me that this is more public for women then men. (Kim Kardashian comes to mind).
