Yeah, that didn't make sense to me either. He didn't even need to mention demonic possession and all that stuff, and for now just tell her that she went nuts and acted violently. (I assume she knows that this is what happened to Kyle's mother?) So it seems like they're dragging it out for a bigger dramatic effect

What the prequels made clear to me is that George Lucas is basically Ed Wood with billions of dollars at his disposal. I don't hate them as such, but they are terrible on so many levels and the world would have been better off if they hadn't been created.
