You bring up good points. Both my sisters went to all-female high schools for at least two years, and from what I heard, those schools seemed way more tolerant of the differently-gendered than my brother's all-male (Jesuit) high school.

Those signs come as separate letters (usually made of plastic or some type of styrofoam) and are put up by the lowest paid visual merchadiser employed at the store (that would have been me). So it's easy to get the letters mixed up if you aren't familiar with the name, and don't double check what it's supposed to say.
