The problem here appears to be the evidence failed to support the two Plaintiff’s claim that they were in fact co-authors. Feels to me like they tried to use a previous, failed collaboration with her to shake down money after she broke through, which happens a LOT in the music industry (a famous somewhat recent

No, they didn’t get all the money, but it was found to be copyright infringement as it “took too much” from the original. And most copyright lawyers criticized both the trial court and 9th Circuit decisions, the latter of which was 2-1 with a strongly worded dissent. I suspect this case, or one like it, will end up

Fair enough, I just meant this movie isn’t worth getting worked up over, even if things like “forcing a plane to land” plays a lot worse in 2020 then it did in 1994.

I’ve never seen it, but this is one of the best scathing reviews I’ve ever read. Bravo, sir, bravo.

Dude, you need to relax a bit.

Probably just a bit too weird for the mainstream, but I’m a fan.

Jeremy Roenick was fired for saying he wanted to have a threesome with a co-worker, and is now suing claiming discrimination as fellow NBC announcers Weir and Lipinski made some sexual innuendo jokes in a clearly satirical context. Now imagined that stretched that out into 3 paragraphs plus a sentence with a bunch of l

Setting that aside, this lawsuit might actually have merit if he can prove he was fired when both a gay and female co-worker made similar comments and weren’t punished.  It doesn’t sound like that’s the case, as Roenick comments were about having sex with a specific co-worker, whereas Weir and Lipinski were talking

Throw out California, our most highly populated and most liberal state, and she lost the popular vote in the rest of the country. And it’s not like she didn’t know winning the popular vote wouldn’t matter if she couldn’t win the battleground states. And she lost every fucking one of them.

Lady A the singer was a little known artist in Seattle who never trademarked her name. Lady A was a nickname of the band for years, and they trademarked it back in 2009, and Lady A the singer never objected. After the official name change, Lady A the band offered to share the name, as both have legitimate claim to

Gotta love the preachy, righteous indignation of someone who can’t even own up to their own BS. Great talk Bro. Peace.

So you agree he’s not a holocaust denier then?

Ryder’s allegations are from 25 years ago, and his famous rant was 14 years ago. And apparently he’s been (rather quietly) donating to charities to help Holocaust survivors over the past several years. You nor I know whether it’s sincere or not, but sometimes people change and deserve a second chance.

He’s not though, if you google “Mel Gibson holocaust” you get no mentions of him ever denying the Holocaust (though his dad is apparently a holocaust denier, which explains a lot). But hey, here’s the first link of that google search:

I think you’re probably right on both counts, he was already trending downward by 2006, at least a little.  The Rant certainly sped things up.

I can’t express how on board I am with this.  Rename Columbus to Flavortown, and we can all go there next year to celebrate Juneteenth as it replaces Columbus Day as a Federal holiday!

That’s fair. The funny thing is he had a reputation as a likable guy pre-2006 (it’s even a major theme of a Simpsons episode).

I know he was aging out of the action movie roles anyway, but I’m fairly certain he was effectively blacklisted.  Having nothing on your resume for four years is pretty extreme.

Dude, look at his pre-2006 and post-2006 career. He went from the A-List to being in 3 movies I’ve heard of in the past 14 years, including 4 years with absolutely nothing (2006-2010). He had a clear and inarguable fall from grace.  It’s OK to be wrong sometimes, you need to let this go.

Obviously there’s no way to know the answer to your question. No doubt Mel Gibson has said/done some shitty things. He was also an alcoholic who seems to have cleaned himself up, and hasn’t had any incidents in about a decade. It doesn’t feel like “he should never ever get another opportunity in Hollywood again” is
