I dare say getting kicked out of your chosen profession is a pretty fucking meaningful punishment. And it’s more like 14 years without many meaningful opportunities, Hacksaw Ridge being the lone exception.

He was basically blacklisted for four years, he’s gotten one major directing gig over the past 14 years, and he’s no longer considered a big time movie star.  What in the blue hell are you talking about?

Barely effected him?  Go look at his IMDB page, he basically disappeared for 4 years after the video was released.  And he went from being one of the most famous, bankable stars in Hollywood to much more sporadic work.

Being a dirtbag doesn’t preclude one from making a great movie, as you can in fact separate art from the artist.

While there is truth to the claim that loud morons get a disproportionate amount of attention, I also believe that “average” intelligence is far lower than educated people realize.
