STD season 1 was still better than the first season of any Trek show other than the first season. And there have always been humorous Trek episodes.

I think he might mean it in the same sense that some of the spicier disco hate in the late 70s is now seen as being flavored by homophobia and/or racism. At the time, it was becoming less and less tolerable to be openly racist or homophobic, but you could openly hate something kinda associated with them.

It’s worth noting that Craig Finn also has a direct connection to Frightened Rabbit. The single for The Loneliness and the Scream has as its B-side a cover of Don’t Go Breaking My Heart with Finn filling the Kiki Dee part. 

I said it when you guys covered his passing, and I’ll say it again. It’s criminal that Frightened Rabbit isn’t immensely more popular than they are.
