Well, it's a show about a time traveling superhero. I'm grading a curve. The plot was character driven and emotionally resonant, which is all you can ask for.

THE ONLY GOOD COMPANION IS SOME DUDE FROM 1965 YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF. I haven't seen those episodes myself, of course, but have read extensive wikipedia articles about them.

Ian McKellan is too busy swimming in his giant pile of Hobbit money, Scrooge McDuck style, to ever do a season-long arc on Doctor Who.

100% this. A Christmas Carol might be my favorite doctor who episode ever. Well written, extraordinarily well acted, and a clever plot that didn't rely on timey-wimey nonsense. The 20 minutes it spends building up the Doctor and young Gambon's relationship make the rest of the episode that much more heartbreaking.…

Meh, I prefer that to a slow talking, cowardly ice queen. Moffat has his issues writing for women, but there are much more acclaimed writers with much bigger issues in that same regard (cough Aaron Sorkin cough). If the worst thing about Moffat's female characters is that they are too independent, sex-positive, and…

we knew about rory immediately, right? He showed up in the first episode as Amy's boyfriend and eventual husband. There was like a five minute period between Amy-as-ten-year-old-girl and Amy-as-reluctant-girlfriend-to-Rory, and none of those minutes were spent positing the Doctor and Amy as a couple.

Fantasy Justified is the best. tim is way underrated in the marshall roster spot, and arlo is a bust at gun thug.
another line that seemed like foreshadowing — Arlo telling Boyd "I'm proud of you, son" at the beginning of the episode. They've been setting up the arlo-is-crazy story line for a while, but I'm willing to bet they've been hinting at the boyd-as-surrogate-son subplot too and we just didn't notice.
they are definitely having fun finding ways to get McDonough naked.
boyd has got to be alive, if for no reason other than he deserves better than an off screen death.
Best part is that Obama claims he successfully crossed over on Chris Paul. I'm a supporter, but damn, I'm going to need a fact check.
ESPN palace intrigue is almost as good as Kardashian palace intrigue, except there are fewer sports stars involved.

we prefer Mohammedian or islamofacist.
