No, they were all charged with felonies as a result of the first standoff and then a bunch more after the Oregon stunt although I’m not sure Cliven was a part of that. All told, they’ve had four trials and won all four.

Yeah, right, the ATF didn’t go undercover to get Randy Weaver to sell him a sawed-off shotgun then shoot his wife, the FBI didn’t warn everyone about white supremacists in law enforcement, etc. etc. etc.

That’s probably a good bet. I know many BLM protesters were arrested for various alleged crimes but am not aware of any going to prison, tho.

The fact a jury didn’t convict him doesn’t mean he was “left alone.” I’m sure if you were put on trial, you’d agree it differs greatly from being left alone. I think his kids ended up walking on the charges too for the stunt they pulled in Oregon (and I think they’re the ones you were referring to in your comment

They didn’t leave Bundy alone, he eventually went on trial. After Ruby Ridge and Waco, the Feds learned that turning situations like that into armed standoffs was a terrible idea. The better approach is to just let them be yahoos for a while until they eventually give up. That may seem unfair but it’s actually been a

Seriously, and I’m not being snarky - but what do you learn in a Journalism program? How to investigate? How to write? What?

The judge refused to let Stubblefield put on any expert evidence to counteract the State’s story, though. She got utterly screwed (haha) in that respect because that’s what the entire case was about. This Op-Ed piece actually shows the OP’s idea - that the alleged victim may not have actually been one - isn’t worth

No, the ecological disaster was prompted entirely by the market. Specifically, the WWI market for grain that saw prices soar to record levels, which in turn caused farmers to buy more grassland, plow it under and farm it, then produce more grain to sell at subsidized, record prices. This cycle persisted well after WWI

I think you’re right in many ways and I’d normally tend to agree with you 100%. However, I just got finished reading a book about the Dust Bowl and then watched the Ken Burns documentary about the same.

In the deep red states where they’re talking about having Trump appear, the voters won’t care a bit.

I think that “pie-related injury” may extend to more than just eating pie. For example, maybe you reach into your oven to get the pie and you plan to use a towel to do so and the towel catches on fire and you have to go to the ER or something similar. That’s why lacerations and burns are identified in the tweet.

The people that comment on InfoWars often do so tongue-in-cheek. That’s what makes it tolerable and, often, quite hilarious.

Actually, if the SEAL can’t do the required number of pushups, he actually does get moved to another base because he gets kicked out of the SEAL unit.

OK, Johnny Badass. I can tell by the superior spelling in your comment you likely can’t pay off your student loans or figure out how much you owe, either.

OK, dummy.

No, the OP wanted to know how much she owed on her Federal loans and the story links directly to a site that lets her find that out. I wasn’t suggesting she print off an Excel spreadsheet and wave it around, although if she had one she’d presumably be better off than being completely without anything whatsoever.

This place is as much an echo chamber as InfoWars is, it’s just on the other side of the political spectrum.

Because she lost to Trump. She lost to an unhinged game show host.

It can even work by actually reading the article you’re commenting on and not asking stupid questions! That’s the best way, I think. Too bad you two didn’t do that, I guess, but no need to cry about it all day.

Different constitutional standards and different laws apply to detention prior to an arrest, to an arrest, and to detention following an arrest.
