I haven’t seen it, obviously, as I don’t live in NY and don’t have a million dollars. but I’ve watched as much youtube as I can and read a lot of the lyrics earlier and it gives me the shivers by how well done it is. also just loving something old and “boring” being so popular in today’s society.

totally get that, plus as someone who can barely draw a straight line, I really appreciate other forms of art making that are more forgiving

you mean as an artist? if so, you should be glad you’re not Jeff Koons. that guy is an asshole :D and I find his work boring, but I’m not really much for contemporary anyway. also I’m not an artist, so I don’t know what that struggle is really like...seems awful. trying to make it just as an art historian is…

art is worth exactly what people will pay for it.

all art historians specialize, we have to in order to be relevant. if we just kept parroting the same crap, we wouldn’t be learning.

it could be a provenance thing. I don’t know about that Koons in particular, cause there’s like a bajillion and every damn museum seems to have one, but if a piece was in a famous or infamous collection, then it gains value.
